Dr. John Allen Mallow , age 78, of Upper Tract, WV, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born in Harrisonburg, VA on September 1, 1942, the son of the late John Paul and Theda (Moyers) Mallow. On December 30, 1967, John married Barbara Ann (Jennings) Mallow, who preceded him in death on October 17, 2020.
Dr. Mallow was a 1960 graduate of Franklin High School, a graduate of Potomac State, where he received his Associates Degree in Agricultural Science, a graduate of West Virginia University, where he received his Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science, and a graduate of Ohio State, where he obtained his Doctorate's degree of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Mallow was a member of the Pendleton County School Board for 27 years, past Chairman of RESA VIII, and Past President of the WV State School Boards Association from 98-99. He was a Member of the Pendleton Masonic Lodge #144 AF & AM and Order of the Eastern Star Franklin Chapter #138, and the Upper Tract United Methodist Church. John was a Veterinarian, a lifelong Farmer and he loved caring for plants and animals.
Dr. Mallow is survived by: a daughter, April Mallow of Upper Tract, WV; 2 sons, James "Jamie" Mallow of Harrisonburg, VA, John Jasper Mallow ( Dawn) of Franklin, WV; 2 grandchildren, Phillip and Gwen.
Dr. Mallow's family will receive friends on Thursday, October 29, 2020, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV, with Order of the Easter Star Franklin Chapter #138 conducting services at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Webb officiating. Interment will be in Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract, WV, with Masonic graveside services, conducted by the Pendleton Lodge #144 AF & AM.
