John David Mongold, age 70, of Dorcas, WV passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.  He was born on September 4, 1954, the son of the late John Adam and Viola Alice (Keplinger) Mongold.  John married his loving wife, Carla Dee (Hogbin) Mongold on February 27, 1988 who survives in Dorcas.

Mr. Mongold was a 1972 graduate of Petersburg High School and a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Petersburg.  John was a retired lifelong farmer who owned and operated poultry houses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trucking, and loved to share the stories about all of his adventures.  John was a generous and giving man who never met a stranger. He cared deeply for his family, especially playing with his grandbabies.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by: 2 daughter, Christine Carlyle (Mike) of Meyersdale, PA; Marissa Mowery (Derek) of Dorcas, WV; 2 sons, Clint Mongold of Petersburg, WV; Colton Mongold (Samantha) of Petersburg, WV; 7 grandchildren, Catherine, Jasmine, Tea, Riley, Trace, Maiya, and Peighton.

John's family will receive friends on Saturday, March 22, 2025, 5-7 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg,WV. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 23 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sherri Schafer officiating. Interment will be at the Sites Family Cemetery, Dorcas, WV.
