John Paul Hedrick , age 67 of Cabins, WV, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born on January 7, 1951, in Onego, WV, the son of Edith Faye (Vance) Chewning of Onego, WV and the late John W. Hedrick. On May 16, 1970 he married his wife of 48 years, Rebecca (Wilfong) Hedrick who survives in Cabins.

Mr. Hedrick was a 1968 graduate of Circleville High School. He retired from Interstate Hardwood as a sawyer and spent several years cutting timber. Mr. Hedrick was a member of the North Fork Baptist Church of Riverton where he served as a deacon for many years. John Paul was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved the outdoors.

He is survived by: 1 daughter, Vanessa Mongold and husband, Jeremy, of Maysville, WV; a granddaughter, Roslyn Mongold; 2 sisters, Barbara Porter of Maysville and Betty Hubbard of Clanton, AL; 6 brothers, David Vance (Christina) of Elkins, WV, Kenneth Chewning (Bobbie) of Petersburg, WV, Charles Hedrick (Renee) of Franklin, WV, William Hedrick, Michael Hedrick (Barbara), and Kenneth Hedrick all of Upper Tract, WV; 2 godsons, Jamie Rohrbaugh of Lahmansville, WV and Aaron Propst of Onego; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by: a son, John Eric Hedrick; a sister, Reba Propst; an infant sister and brother; and his special dog, Brut.

Mr. Hedrick's family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 6-8 PM at the North Fork Baptist Church in Riverton, WV. Funeral services will be on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the North Fork Baptist Church with the Pastor Roger Gorby officiating. Interment will be at the North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton, WV. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hedrick Family, c/o Rebecca Hedrick 49 Eric Dr. Cabins, WV 26855.
