Joseph Allen Shanholtz, age 74 of Maysville, WV, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center. He was born on February 8, 1944, in Elk Garden, WV, to the late Walter and Neva (Liller) Shanholtz. On October 16, 1970, Joseph married his wife of 46 years, Patsy (Stover) Shanholtz, who survives in Maysville.

Mr. Shanholtz attended Elk Garden School and had worked at Cardinal Rubber Company for 20 years, in Barberton, OH. Upon moving to West Virginia in 1980 with his family, he worked at Rockingham Poultry and then employed with the Power Plant at Mt. Storm. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting, and playing cards with friends and family. He loved to sing and had a song for everyone.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Shanholtz is survived by: 2 sons, Joseph A. Shanholtz of Maysville, WV and Jeffrey William Shanholtz and wife Rachel of Baker, WV; a brother, Gary Shanholtz of Arthur, WV; grandchildren, Richard shanholtz and wife Rebecca of Petersburg, WV, Kevin Shanholtz of Augusta, WV, Dylan Shanholtz of Huntington, WV, Dustin Shanholtz of Virginia, Tiffany Ford and husband Ray of Newton, NC, Brittany Shanholtz of Augusta,; step grandchildren, Kolby Hunt, Kaleigh Hunt and Kade Hunt of Baker, WV; a great-grandchild, Remmington A. Shanholtz of Maysville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 5 brothers, Donald, Neville, William Jean, Roy, and Roger Shanholtz; 4 sisters, Annalee Butterbaugh, Joanne Pierce, Pearl Yvonne Lucas, and an infant sister.
