Kendra Lou Rightsell, age 78 of Elkins, WV, formerly of Circleville, WV, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Colonial Place in Elkins, WV. She was born on August 23, 1940, in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of the late Kenneth Linn and Neva Mae (Boberg) Downing. On July 31, 1965, Kendra married Alva Carl Rightsell, who preceded her in death on February 12, 2000.

Mrs. Rightsell was a graduate of Stow High School in Stow, OH and Mt. Union College in Alliance, OH. She was a member of the Riverton United Methodist Church where she was an accompanist and attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon, WV. She was dedicated to her church and her church family. Kendra was active in the Pendleton County Community Choir, Buckhannon Choral Society, and Smith Creek Playhouse. She retired from Pendleton County Schools, where she was a Muscial Arts Teacher and taught all aspects of music at Seneca Rocks Elementary, Circleville School, North Fork Elementary, and Franklin Elementary School, and also served as High School Band and Choir Director.

Mrs. Rightsell is survived by: a daughter, Kristi Donahue (Jerry) of Buckhannon, WV; a son, Scott Rightsell (Becky) of Ft. Seybert, WV; a brother, Leon Downing (Beverly) of Penisula, OH; and 3 grandchildren, Drew Allen Donahue, Paden Scott Rightsell, and Hope Madison Donahue. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a son, Alva Carl Rightsell, Jr.; and a brother, Marvin Downing.

Mrs. Rightsell's family will receive friends on Sunday, May 5, 2019, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 6, 2019 at 3:00 PM at the Riverton United Methodist Church in Riverton, WV, with Pastor Sam Harper officiating. Interment will be in North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton. Memorials may be made to Riverton United Methodist Church, or to Colonial Place in Elkins, WV.
