Laurie Jean Murray, age 91, of Circleville, WV, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 in her father's home in the same room that she slept in as a child. She was born in Cleveland, OH, on March 1, 1929, the daughter of the late Eugenia Charlotte (Roskopf) and Harry Cunningham Wolfe. On February 3, 1951, Laurie married James Donald Bain Murray III, who preceded her in death in 1993.

Mrs. Murray attended Circleville School and graduated from West Town High School in West Chester, PA. She was a graduate of Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH, with a Bachelor's Degree in History and a graduate of Harvard University with a Master's Degree in Education. She attended college on full scholarships. Mrs. Murray retired after 30 years, as a Teacher from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, and she has also volunteered in a soup kitchen. She was a world Traveler, and she applied her experiences from traveling in her course teachings.

Laurie enjoyed playing the cello and she had played in several Orchestra's. She loved to listen to Beethovan and Mozart. She had a passion for animals and she took in stray and abused dogs. Mrs. Murray was active in setting up several student scholarships in memory of her husband.

Mrs. Murray is survived by: a daughter, Ruth Elizabeth Murray of Circleville, WV; and 2 sisters, Mary Lea Bailey of Delaware, OH and Alice "Gussie" Mills (Howard) of Shepherdstown, WV; and several cousins.

In honoring Mrs. Murray's wishes, her body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV, with Pastor Mike Lambert officiating.
