Leona Catherine Thompson, age 91, of Franklin, WV, formerly of Richmond, VA, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. She was born on January 22, 1933, in Riverton, WV, the daughter of the late James Lester and Rhoda (Warner) Thompson.

Leona attended Circleville High School and was a member of the Franklin Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She retired as a case worker and office worker from Lakewood Apartments for the Elderly.

Leona leaves behind to cherish her memory: a daughter Melody Cooper of Franklin; a grandson, Bruce Cosby Eagle, Jr.; and a great-grandson, Grayson Cole Eagle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: a son, James David Hyre (10-6-2018); 4 brothers, Wilmer, Robert, Jacob, James Ralph Thompson; and 2 sisters, Martha Thompson and Mary Elizabeth Thompson.
