Linda Berg, age 73, of Maysville, WV, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021 at the Madison Center in Morgantown, WV . She was born on July 22, 1947 in Petersburg, the daughter of the late Karl and Myrtle (Harper) Bobo. Mrs. Berg is survived by her husband of 19 years, Ernest "Gene" Berg of Maysville.
Mrs. Berg graduated from Petersburg High School in 1965 and Alderson-Broaddus University in 1969. Linda joined the Army upon graduation as a 1 st Lieutenant and served in Vietnam. Besides her nursing career in the Army, which took her all over the United States, she spent her life caring for others in a variety of health care positions. She was Director of the Nursing program in the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona, taught Medical-Surgical Nursing at the University of Nevada and was the Director of Nursing at Grant Memorial Hospital. After earning her Nurse Practitioner License from WVU, she was a health care provider in several different locations. Linda ended her career as the head Medical Provider in nursing homes in Hampshire and Mineral Counties. Mrs. Berg was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church of Arthur, WV, a founding member of the Patterson Creek Ruritan Club, and the American Legion Post #78. Linda enjoyed going to auctions, restoring antiques, and working with crafts.
Mrs. Berg is survived by: 1 sister, Barb (Denny) DiBenedetto of Petersburg, WV; 1 step-daughter, Miranda Kimble (Jeremy) of Upper Tract, WV; 3 step-sons, George Davis of Salem, VA, Christopher Berg and Jeremy Berg both of Jordan Run, WV; 1 niece, Amanda (Paul) Borror; 2 nephews, Jeremy (Missy) DiBenedetto and Dan (Megan) DiBenedetto; 6 grandchildren and 4 great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Berg was preceded in death by: 1 grandson, Ernie Berg.
In honoring Linda's wishes, her body has been cremated. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 11:00 AM, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Joe Gerstell officiating.
