Lucy Jean (Hartman) Propst, age 87 of Franklin, WV, passed away on  Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at her home. She was born on November 15, 1930, in Zigler, WV, the daughter of the late Melvin Earl and Mary Ellen (Lambert) Hartman. Lucy married Samuel Bowers Propst, Sr., who preceded her in death on August 15, 1997.

Mrs. Propst was a 1948 graduate of Franklin High School. She was a member of the Franklin Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. Lucy had worked at Western Electric for 10 years, in Baltimore, MD, Pendleton Nursing Home, Hanover Shoe, a cook at Franklin Elementary School and as a senior Caregiver.

Mrs. Propst is survived by: 4 daughters, Linda Propst of Franklin, Brenda Andrews and husband Glenn of Franklin, Cathy Huffman and husband Dwight of Greenville, WV, Mary Fern of Abingdon, VA; a son, Thomas E. Propst of Irvine, CA; 2 sisters, Mary "Kate" Mitchell of Franklin, Nancy Kipp of Martinsburg, WV; a brother, Loy Allen Hartman and wife Bobbie of Harrisonburg, VA; 8 grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael, Anthony, Michelle (who was raised by her grandmother), April, Dwight Jr., Elizabeth Ann, and Shannon; and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded by a son, Sam Propst, Jr.

Mrs. Propst's family will receive friends on Saturday, July 14, 2018, 1-3 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.
