Marie (Hawk) Harper , age 80, of Franklin, WV, formerly of Sandy Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin, where she had been a resident for 6 ½ years. She was born on June 29, 1938, in Petersburg, WV, the daughter of the late Ohley M. and Willye Marie (Schell) Hawk. On September 1, 1956, Marie married Kelly Harper, who preceded her in death on August 5, 2016.

Marie attended Petersburg High School and was a member of the Sandy Ridge Church of the Brethren. She had worked at Franklin Meat Market, Hanover Shoe Company, and she had also provided private housekeeping services.

Mrs. Harper is survived by: 2 daughters, Evelyn Calhoun (Styrl) of Upper Tract, WV, Kim Crane (Tony) of Franklin; a son, Eddie Harper (Lori) of Sugar Grove, WV; 2 grandchildren, Jenny Whetzel (Trent) , Jacquelyne Sites (Daris); 4 great-grandchildren, Kourtney and Makynna Whetzel, and Sinjin and Sierra Sites; and a sister, Ruth Cosner of Rig, WV. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by: a brother, Ralph Hawk; and 2 sisters, Lorene Purdum and Oleda VanMeter.

Mrs. Harper's family will receive friends on Saturday, December 8, 2018, 12-2 PM at the Basagic funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Calvin Bailey officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.
