Marie Pitsenbarger , age 78, of Franklin, WV, formerly of Riverton, WV, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 9, 1946, in Elkins, WV, the daughter of the late Elmer Ivan Lee and the late Zadie Cunningham. On June 14, 1986, Marie married Arthur Wade Pitsenbarger, who survives in Franklin.

Marie was a 1964 graduate of Circleville High School and a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She had worked at Hanover Shoe Company, Marvel Poultry and CMI. Marie was proud to be called Ms. Marie at Franklin Elementary School, where she had worked for many years as the "School Grandma". During those years, she captured the hearts of many children and staff and left a legacy to be admired.

Marie leaves behind to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Marchia Bowers of Franklin, WV, Melinda Warner of Franklin, WV; a son, Jimmy Warner (Cassie) of Brandywine, WV; a step son, James Pitsenbarger (Jessica) of Sugar Grove, WV; 10 grandchildren, Britt Hamlin, Marcus Hammer, Merrick Hammer, Cheyenne Dayton (Levi), Bailee Kiger, Dakota Warner, Cherokee Warner, Ollie Warner, Paige Warner, Leo Warner; and 1 great-grandchild, Colton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: a grandson, Marshall Hammer; and a brother, Norman.

Marie's family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, 5-7 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Mike Loudermilk officiating. Interment will be in the Totten Chapel Cemetery, Sugar Grove, WV. Memorials may be made to: American Cancer Society, Totten Chapel Cemetery, or Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
