Marlene Laverne Harman passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, under hospice care at Pendleton Manor, following a long illness.
She was born on April 29, 1949, in Upper Tract, West Virginia.
Above all else, Marlene was a devoted mother. She was a hard worker and a kind and compassionate person. She never met a stranger and was a friend to so many. She retired from the Par Mar Store, where she offered a smile and kindness to everyone. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Marlene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Elwood Preston "Bub" Harman; her parents, Charles Virgil Kimble Sr. and Eleanor Elizabeth Kimble Thompson; three brothers, Anthony Lane Kimble, Joseph Maxwell Kimble, and Charles Virgil Kimble Jr.; one brother-in-law, Herbert Harman; and sisters-in-law, Allie "Sis" Harman, Jackie Kimble, Barb Kimble, and Ruth Harman.
She is survived by her only son, Michael B. Harman of Upper Tract; her brothers, Danny Kimble of Franklin, John Kimble of Petersburg, and Sam Kimble of Upper Tract; her sisters, Donna Hoover (Roger) of Franklin and Debra Kimble (William) of Upper Tract; her sisters-in-law, Grace Hammer (Albert) of Franklin, Martha Kimble of Franklin, and Donna Iman of Petersburg; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Please know that each of you held a special place in her heart. She loved all of you as if you were her own children.
In honoring Marlene's wishes, her body has been cremated. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, April 11, 2026, 1-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. A Celebration of Life will be follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Sam Sponaugle officiating. Memorials may be made to Pendleton Manor, POB 700, Franklin, WV 26807.
