Marvin Watson Hartman , age 93, of Brandywine, WV, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV. He was born on May 31, 1931, the son of late Clarence O. and Elsie (Lough) Hartman. On September 19, 1954, Marvin married the love of his life, Betty Gail (Rexrode) Hartman, who survives in Brandywine.

Marvin attended Franklin High School and was a member of the Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren. He retired from the Sugar Grove Naval Base where he was employed by Public Works for many years. Marvin was a jack of all trades and had also worked as a carpenter and plumber. He raised outstanding chickens for Rockingham Poultry, Marvin was a founding member of the South Fork Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, Marvin leaves behind to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Krista Dawn Simmons (Jeffrey) of Brandywine, WV, Kim Stanchfield (Rusty Wieber) of Linville, VA; a sister, Patsy Munneke of Harrisonburg, VA; a brother, Bill Hartman; 2 grandchildren, Jeni Cook and Brandon Simmons; and 2 great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Avery Cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 4 brothers, Ona, Raymond, Kenneth, Clarence; 6 sisters, Virginia, Treva, Beulah, Sylvia, Elsie, and Thelma.

Marvin's family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, 9-11 AM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Sam Harper officiating. Members of the South Fork Volunteer Fire Deparment will proudly serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Brandywine, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South Fork Volunteer Fire Department.
