Mary Theresa DiFranco , age 84, of Cabins, WV, passed away on October 5, 2021, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. She was born on February 9, 1937, the daughter of the late Peter Salagaras and Viola Nisen. On October 27, 1959, Mary wed Louis DiFranco, who preceded her in death on February 27, 1987.

Mrs. DiFranco attended school in New Jersey, and locally attended St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Petersburg, WV. Mary was a homemaker and loving mother who was very proud of her Greek heritage and culture. She had a passion for cooking which brought great joy to her family. She also loved animals and playing cards, where she was masterful at cheating. Mary hadn't lived in Petersburg long but made friends quickly. Everyone who met her, loved her.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memories: a daughter, Theresa Kaminski of Petersburg, WV; a son, Louis DiFranco (Jacki) of Beach Haven, NJ; 2 brothers, Peter "Bud" Cullari (Bea); and Steve Salagaras, both of Florida; 2 grandchildren, Daniel Louis DiFranco and Deanna Marie DiFranco; and a close friend who she treated as another son, Walter Schulwitz, of Pennington, NJ. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Frankie Cullari; Peter Salagaras; and 2 infant twin siblings.

Mary's family will receive friends on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, 10-11 AM at Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Father Dan Pisano officiating. Interment will be at the Maysville Cemetery in Maysville, WV.
