Mary Lee Sites , age 88 of Franklin, WV, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at the Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV. She was born on November 21, 1931, in Franklin, WV, the daughter of the late James and Virginia Dare Wagoner McLaughlin. On December 29, 1951, Mary Lee married Herbert Lincoln Sites, who preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1989.
Mrs. Sites was a graduate of Franklin High School and a member of Franklin Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed Women's Bible Study and taught Sunday School. She had worked as a Nurse's Aide and in the activities department at Pendleton Nursing Home. Mary Lee was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, and she welcomed everyone in to her home. She was the happiest when she had a house full of family and friends, and she loved spending time around the campfire and going to the beach. She participated in Relay for Life. Mary Lee enjoyed traveling and had ventured to Germany, Bermuda, and Austria.
Mrs. Sites is survived by: 2 daughters, Patricia Sites of Franklin, WV, Mary Beth Bennett (Floyd) of Circleville, WV; 2 sons, Paul Sites (Abby) of Franklin, and Bradford "Brad" Sites of Franklin; a sister, Martha Jean Walker of Hayes, VA; and 2 granddaughters, Brooke Bennett and fiance Brennan Goldizen, and Hannah Bennett. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a son, Herbert Lee Sites (December 13, 2002); 3 brothers, William, Paul, and Wilson; and 2 sisters, Sara Mitchell and Betty Hevener.
Mrs. Sites' family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Franklin Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Fletcher Hutchison. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin, WV.
