Melissa Lynne Whetzel, age 53, of Cabins, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Grant Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 7, 1967 in Petersburg, WV, the daughter of Harvey W. Carr and Bernice (Phares) Carr of Maysville, WV.  On December 9, 1989 she married her loving husband of 31 years, Bobby Glenn Whetzel who resides in Cabins, WV.

Mrs. Whetzel was a 1985 graduate of Petersburg High School. She then attended Allegheny Community College where she received her degree in Nursing. Melissa was a member of the Cabins Assembly of God in Cabins and served in Women's Ministry. She worked at Grant Memorial Hospital in Labor and Delivery for 14 years and later retired from the Grant County Commission on Aging. Melissa loved jewelry, crafting and spending time with her grand kids.

Mrs. Whetzel is survived by: 2 sons, Eli Whetzel of Cabins and Hunter Whetzel (Ashley) of Cabins; 1 sister, Libby (Greg) Berg of Maysville, WV; 3 grandchildren, Sierra, Neil, and Cora Whetzel and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Maysville, with Pastor Coleman Clark officiating. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, and for the love and respect for Melissa, wearing of masks and social distancing will be required at the graveside service at all times.
