Melvin Arnold Bennett , age 81, of Harrisonburg, VA passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Blue Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing in Harrisonburg, VA.  He was born in Circleville, WV on August 1, 1943, the son of the late Vivian E and Emmel A (Zickefoose) Bennett.  On September 2, 1972, Melvin married Katheryn Lou Hedrick, who preceded him in death on October 10, 2021.

Melvin was a 1961 graduate of Circleville High School.  He spent most of his career with Kawneer Manufacturing in Harrisonburg, VA and later retired from AMP Incorporated.  He loved hunting and camping, and spending time with family and friends, especially on the family farm.  He always had a story to tell to whoever would listen. Melvin was a member of Middle River Church of the Brethren, Fort Defiance, VA.

Melvin is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth and Cecil Welcher of Grottoes, VA; a son, Melvin A Bennett, Jr of Mt Sidney, VA and companion, Kimberly Dawn Bennett; granddaughter, Amy L Welcher and grandson, Danny Ray Michael Bennett; sister-in-laws, Mary and Larry Raines of Seneca Rocks, WV, Patsy Hedrick & Dick Vance of Seneca Rocks, WV, Dotty and Larry Armentrout of Cabins, WV and Daisy Hedrick of Seneca Rocks, WV; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

A service will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Kathleen Michael officiating, with family receiving friends at 2 PM.  Interment will be in North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, WV.  A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 15 at 11 AM at Middle River Church of the Brethren in Fort Defiance, VA.
