Mila Mae (Nesselrodt) Whetzel , age 86, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022. She was born on April 20, 1936, in Landes, WV, the daughter of the late Charles A. and Demma T. (Ketterman) Nesselrodt. On January 30, 1950, Mila married Edward L. Whetzel, who preceded her in death on October 9, 2008.

Mila attended school in Landes, WV and the Petersburg Church of God. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mila enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, reading her Bible, and singing to her grandchildren. She will be remembered for the love and care she gave to her family.

Ms. Whetzel was last surviving member of her immediate family and leaves behind to cherish her memory: 5 daughters, Rhoda Marie Wratchford of Petersburg, WV, Donnie M. Whetzel of Petersburg, WV, Ilene Wilburn (Lee) of Old Fields, WV, Betty Miller (Bradley) of Maysville, WV, Juanita Alt (Delmas) of Romney, WV; 2 sons, Randy L. Whetzel of Petersburg, WV, Keith E. Whetzel of Petersburg, WV; a special sister-in-law, Mary Nesselrodt; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: 2 sons, Jolly Joe and David Whetzel; a son-in-law, Ernest Wratchfod; 3 brothers, Samuel, Willard, and Gillispie Nesselrodt; 4 sisters, Wilda Lantz, Goldie Whetzel, Rhoda Whetzel, Margie Borror; 2 grandchildren; and infant great-grandchild.

Mila's family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, 5-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg, WV. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Stephen Noel officiating. Interment will be in the Nesselrodt Family Cemetery, Landes, WV.
