Myrtle C. (Redman) Moats , age 86 of Sugar Grove, WV, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, VA. She was born on April 1, 1932 in Petersburg, WV, the daughter of the late Emmett and Sally (Patch) Redman. Myrtle married Melvin Everett Moats, who preceded her in death on January 7, 2012.

Ms. Moats attended Grant County Schools and was a member of the Moats Chapel A.M.E. Church. She had worked in the meat department at Franklin IGA.

Ms. Moats is survived by: 2 daughters, Fay Redman Moats and husband Charles of Franklin, Alma Moats Grandison and husband Norman of Wardensville, WV; a son, Melvin Moats, Jr. "Rat" of Sugar Grove; 12 grandchildren, Jay, Gia, Jerry, Kevin, Cameron, Tiffany, Eric, Kaiulani, Nayone, Myowne, Tayshawn, and Tara; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Emmett, William J., and Max; and 2 sisters, Geraldine Redman and Blanch Virginia Washington.

Ms. Moats' family will receive friends on Monday, June 11, 2018, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Eldon Moats officiating. Interment will be in Moats Family Cemetery in Moyers, WV.
