Norma Jean Sites Brandenburg, 87, of Springfield, VA and formerly of Franklin passed away December 31, 2020 at Colonial Manor, Elkins WV.
Born June 10, 1933 in Harrisonburg, she was the fourth child and only daughter of Bert and Beulah (Adamson) Sites of Franklin, WV. A Franklin native, she graduated in the Franklin High School Class of 1951 and completed her education at Capital University (Class of 1955). She moved to the Washington, DC area after graduation where she met her husband Russell Brandenburg and they married in 1957. She taught for more than three decades, most of it as a 5th grade school teacher in the Prince George's County, Maryland school system. She worked in real estate for many years, and with the Federal Aviation Administration as a secretary and in graphics communications. She did volunteer work for a support charity for Inova Fairfax Hospital until 2015. Her husband Russell passed away in 2003.
Surviving are her children, Julie (Gil Taylor), Hank (Wanda), Bert (Margaret) and three grandsons Alex Taylor, Martin and James Brandenburg. She was preceded in death by her three brothers Herbert, Robert "BJ", and John Sites - as well as sister-in-law Marylee McLaughlin Sites, nephew Herbert Lee Sites and niece Marsha Sites Hibbs.
Due to the pandemic, interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery was private.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Pendleton County Historical Society, PO Box 293, Franklin, WV, 26807.
