Olie Willis Whetzel, age 82, of Dorcas, WV, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, at E.A. Hawse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Baker, WV. He was born on December 15, 1938, in Pendleton County, WV, the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Maggie (Sites) Whetzel. On August 15, 1960, Olie married his wife of 60 years, Leona (Judy) Whetzel, who survives in Petersburg, WV.

Mr. Whetzel attended Borror Schoolhouse in Upper Tract, WV and was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Petersburg, WV. He had worked for the City of Petersburg, the US Forestry Service, and retired from Kessel Lumber Company. Olie had a passion for being in the mountains that he called God's country. He loved hunting, fishing, farming, traveling, and telling lifetime stories.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Whetzel is survived by: a daughter, Bonnie Bland (Rodney) of Upper Tract, WV; a son, Lindsey Whetzel (Wendy) of Rough Run, WV; 3 sisters, Grace Crites (Virgil) of Petersburg, WV, Elsie Keplinger of Dorcas, WV, Nellie Iman of Petersburg, WV; 2 brothers, Johnny Whetzel (Norma) of Circleville, WV, Glenn Whetzel (Shirlene) of Dorcas, WV; 5 grandchildren; a step grandchild; 6 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a daughter, Nancy Whetzel; 5 brothers, Edward, Isaac, Arnold, Fred, and Vernon Whetzel; and a sister, Viola Riggleman.
