Pastor Otha C. "Coal Miner" Hinkle, age 78, of Scherr, WV, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Piney Valley Nursing Home in Keyser, WV. He was born on December 4, 1941 in Rough Run, WV, the son of the late Ernest W. Hinkle and Wilma (Borror) Hinkle. Otha married his wife of 56 years, Martha Jane (Vance) Hinkle, on November 6, 1963, who survives in Keyser.

Mr. Hinkle attended school in Durgon, WV. He retired from Allegheny Mining Co. in Mt. Storm, WV as a former truck driver and truck foreman. He was later employed at Grant Co. Mulch as a dispatcher and truck driver.  Mr. Hinkle was a member and longtime Pastor of the Boots Hill Community Church in Dorcas, WV.  He was a former member of the Grant County Board of Education and the NRA as well as a frequent and faithful donor of blood.

In addition to his wife, Pastor Hinkle is survived by: 2 sons, Clyde Hinkle and wife, Joni, of Petersburg, WV and Kenneth Hinkle and wife, Dianna, of Lahmansville, WV; 3 sisters, Bonnie Crites and husband, Steve, of Capon Bridge, WV, Juanita See of Durgon, WV and Beverly Judy and husband, Berlin, of Moorefield, WV; 5 Grandchildren, Tabitha Funk, Bowdie Hinkle, Heather Shirk, Jessica Barkley and Bryan Hinkle and 8 Great-Grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Pastor Hinkle is preceded in death by: 1 brother, Reginald Hinkle and 1 sister, Judith Dove.

Pastor Hinkle's family will receive friends on Sunday, June 21, 2020 from 1-6PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.  Graveside service will be on Monday, June 22, 2020, 11:00AM at the Lahmansville Cemetery in Lahmansville, WV with Pastors Calvin Redman and Ronnie Boyd officiating.
