Phyllis Ann Moats , age 82, of Fairmont, WV, formerly of Franklin, WV, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born on January 27, 1939, in Franklin, WV, the daughter of the late Layman and Hazel Catherine (Whetzel) Moyers. Phyllis married Gernon Elwood "Bill" Moats, who preceded her in death on March 1, 1993.

Phyllis attended Franklin High School and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She retired from Thompson's Restaurant and had also worked at Hanover Shoe Company and Marvel Poultry.

Phyllis leaves behind to cherish her memory: her companion, Eugene "Gene" Wells of Fairmont, WV; a son, Timothy Hamilton of Franklin, WV; 6 sisters, Freda Jamison (Arlin Dale) of Franklin, WV, Kathleen Eye (Hensel Armentrout) of Bridgewater, VA, Sharon Gillespie (David) of Brandywine, WV, Linda Propst of Penn Laird, VA, Nancy Scott (David) of Franklin, WV, Judy Harper of Franklin, WV; a brother, Larry Moyers of Franklin, WV; her caretaker, Lesa Gorman of Fairmont, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Moats' family will receive friends on Friday, January 14, 2022, 10-11 AM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Loudermilk officiating. Interment will be in Pine Crest Memorial Cemetery, Franklin, WV.
