Ralph Chester Walters, age 80, of Petersburg, WV, passed away at E.A. Hawse Healthcare Center in Baker, WV, on Monday, December 23, 2024.  He was born on January 25, 1944, the son of the late Albert Richard and Eunice Virginia (Weatherholtz) Walters.  On March 24, 1975, he married his loving wife, Alice Jean (Bennett) Walters, who survives in Petersburg.

Mr. Walters was a 1962 graduate of Petersburg High School and served our country in the United States Navy. He began his career at the CSX Railroad, where he retired as a foreman.  Ralph was a member of the Covenant Baptist Church in Petersburg and more recently attended South Branch Baptist Church. He was a former member of the American Legion, Post 78, and an avid outdoorsman.  In Ralph's early years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with close friends and always loved to watch the birds.  He was faithful every year to plant his garden and took great care in every detail.   He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by: a daughter, Tammy Monday (Gary) of Dunkirk, MD; 3 brothers, Ronald Walters of Petersburg, WV; Roger Walters (Sharon) of Old Fields, WV; Raymond Walters (Geneva) of Moorefield, WV; 2 grandsons, Dustin Wolfe of Lothian, MD; Mathew Berg of Martinsburg, WV; and a great-grandson, Kaden Berg.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy A Walters.

Ralph's family will have a graveside service on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Hyre Family Cemetery, 125 Wolverton Mt.
