Randall Scott Koontz, age 67, of Moorefield, WV and formerly of Petersburg, WV, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Grant Memorial Hospital.  He was born on November 16, 1958 in Petersburg, WV, the son of Malin Koontz of Petersburg and the late Bonnie Lou Koontz.  Randy leaves behind his loving companion, Ida Carpenter.

Mr. Koontz attended Central High School in Maryland and was the owner and operator of  K & Sons Construction in Petersburg.   He also volunteered as a firefighter at the Maysville and Petersburg Fire Department for over 20 years.  Randy enjoyed hunting and being outdoors but he especially loved to be a help to his community.  Whether he was working with EMT or spending time at the firehouse, he was always ready to help anyone in need.

Randy is survived by: a daughter, Sara Silverman and husband Aaron of Baker, WV; 2 sons, Randall Aaron Koontz of Petersburg, WV; Nathan Malery of Moorefield, WV; 2 step-daughters, Sonya Horton of Petersburg, WV; Tasha ; a sister, Linda Winebrenner of Petersburg, WV; 2 brothers, Jerry "Chip" Koontz of Moorefield, WV; Mark Koontz and wife Carol of Moorefield, WV; and 3 Grandchildren.

Randy's family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28, 2026 12-1 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg, WV.  A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Snyder officiating.  Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com or on Facebook at Basagic Funeral Home.
