Raymond Calvin Cox, age 87, of Petersburg, WV, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the Grant County Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg. He was born on December 24, 1934, in Landis, WV, the son of the late Samuel Calvin and Lena (Kesner) Cox.
Mr. Cox graduated from Franklin High School and became an LPN, retiring from Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg. He attended Wilson Chapel Church, Upper Tract United Methodist Church, and later South Mill Creek Church of the Brethren. Raymond was a talented self-taught musician and belonged to the Potomac Valley Men's Choir. He loved to spend time in the garden caring for his roses and many flowers. He was known as a kind, compassionate person who also loved animals. Raymond was passionate about his faith and enjoyed telling others of how good the Lord is.
Raymond leaves behind to cherish his memory: a sister, Janie Sites (Johnny) of Dorcas, WV; many cousins, including special cousins, Joan Borror and Virginia George; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Carolyn Ours (Larry) of Petersburg, WV; He was preceded by a sister, Norma Swick.
In honoring his wishes, Raymond will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held by his family at a later date with inurnment at Maple Hill Cemetery.
