Raymond "Eddie" Phares, age 89, of Circleville, WV, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at his home. He was born on September 20, 1934, in Circleville, WV, the son of the late Elmer Benjamin and Myrtle M. (Sponaugle) Phares. On May 3, 1963, Eddie married Alta Rose (Elkins) Phares, who survives in Circleville.

Eddie attended Circleville High School and retired after 45 years of service as a Lineman Superintendent for L.E. Myers Co. He attended Circleville United Methodist Church and North Fork Apostolic Church. Eddie dedicated his life to farming and enjoyed raising cattle.

In addition to his wife, Eddie leaves behind to cherish his memory: a daughter, Georgina Davis (Scott) of Fraziers Bottom, WV; 2 sons, Raymond Edward Phares of Circleville, WV, Michael Phares (Jill) of Fredericksburg, VA; a sister, Mary June Bennett of Circleville, WV; 7 grandchildren, Joshua, Stephen, Adam, Samantha, Austin, Taylor, Ashley; 1 great-grandson, Macklen; and expecting 2 great-granddaughters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 2 brothers, James H. and Richard C. Phares; and 4 sisters, (twins) Bessie and Jessie; Ina Lee Hedrick, and Dottie Lou Warner.

Mr. Phares' family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Jim Phares officiating. Interment will be in the Phares Family Cemetery, (Teter Gap) Circleville, WV. Memorials may be made to Circleville Volunteer Fire Department or Rescue Squad.
