Obituary

Robert Jack Simmons , age 77, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, VA. He was born on August 13, 1944, the son of the late Roy and Eva Mae (Halterman) Simmons. On February 1, 1966, Jack married Sharon Rose (Kimble) Simmons, who survives in Franklin.

Mr. Simmons attended Pendleton County Schools and was a member for the Brushy Run Church of God. He retired after 12 years of service from New River Electrical Corporation and he had also worked 23 years for Laurel Run Mining Company. Jack had a passion for motorcycles, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and playing with his grandchildren. He was also a member of United Mine Workers #1628 and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #70 of Forestville, MD. Jack was a Veteran of the US Army, having served during the Vietnam Era.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Simmons leaves behind to cherish his memories: a daughter, Manda Teter (Andy) of Franklin, WV; a son, Michael Simmons (Robin) Franklin, WV; 5 sisters, Helen Bowers of Franklin, WV, Carolyn Warner of Franklin, WV, Freda Borror (Paul) of Petersburg, WV, Linda Furrow of Vancleave, MS, Bonnie LaBossiere (Richard) of Broadway, VA; 3 brothers, Sheril "Buck" Simmons (Lula) of Franklin, WV, Harlan Simmons of Franklin, WV, Roy Roger Simmons (Karen) of Harrisonburg, VA; and 4 grandchildren, Caylie Simmons, Evan, Kaylie and Karissa Teter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Corey Simmons.

Mr. Simmons' family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 21, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Allen Sisson officiating. Interment will be in Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract, WV, with Military Honors conducted by the US Army.
