Obituary

Roger Denver "Duck" Barger, age 73 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at his residence. He was born on August 12, 1947 in Rawlings, MD the son of the late Denver Barger and Mabel Pearl (Flanagan) Barger. On December 8, 1974 he married his wife of 45 years, Mary Ann (Hedrick) Barger, who survives in Petersburg.

Mr. Barger attended school in Maysville, WV and was a member of the Petersburg Memorial Church of the Brethren and Men's Fellowship. Roger retired after 31 years of coal mining working for Allegheny Mining, Buffalo Coal and JH Allen. He was a former member of the WV Bear Hunters Association. In his spare time, Roger loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his grand kids.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Barger is survived by: 1 daughter, Jeanette Cosner (Brad) of Petersburg; 1 son, James Barger (Stephanie) of Petersburg; 1 son-in-law, Tim Lahman of Arthur, WV; 3 sisters, Barbara Reynolds (Larry) of Maysville, Sandy Hedrick (Buck) of Petersburg and Ruthie Watts (Don) of Cabins, WV; 2 brothers, Lloyd Barger of Petersburg and Blaine Barger (Tammy) of Maysville, 5 grandchildren, Tyler and Andrew Cosner, Kaitlyn, Kylie and Braxton Lahman; 3 step-grandchildren, Whitney (Jake) Simon, Ryan and Autumn Harrison; 2 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Barger is preceded in death by: 1 daughter, Denise Lahman; an infant granddaughter, Allison Cosner, and a niece Stephanie (Hedrick) Bible McCausly.

Mr. Barger's family will receive friends on Sunday, August 23, 2020 from 12-2PM in the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at the South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg, WV with Pastors Alan Brumbaugh and Harold Cullers officiating.
