Ruth Stein (Pee) Hott , age 92, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021, at her home. She was born on December 21, 1928, in Upper Tract, WV, the daughter of the late Floyd Stein Pee/Lee and Willa Ruth (Bowers) Pee Burgoyne and the late Charles Frederick Burgoyne. On November 27, 1949, Ruth married her husband of 50 years, E.E. "John" Hott, who preceded her in death on May 16, 2001.
Mrs. Hott was a 1946 graduate of Franklin High School and a 1949 graduate of Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Cumberland, MD. Ruth was a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church and a Past Matron of OES #138. Mrs. Hott was a full-time homemaker while her children were growing up. She assisted and supported John with his business endeavors and maintained her nursing skills. Ruth spent her remaining years working at the Pendleton County Health Department, Pendleton manor, Franklin Group Home, and Pendleton Home Health, where she received the honor of WV Home Health Nurse of the year in 1997. Her greatest Godly gift was care-taking, which she exemplified in raising her family and providing care to many in the community.
Mrs. Hott is survived by: 2 daughters, Kathy Minor (Bruce) of Franklin, WV, Kristi Stephenson (Mark) of Brevard, NC; 3 sons, Jeffrey Hott of Kirby, WV, John Craig Hott (Paula) of Upper Tract, WV, Bradley Brent Hott of Ft. Seybert, WV; 2 sisters, Phyllis Rhoades of Pompano, FL, Linda Ralston of Waynesboro, VA; 15 Grandchildren, Abbie Cannon (Jim), Allie Ross (Wayne), Emilie Hott, Adam Hott (Kate), Kimbra Day (Scott), John Marshall Hott, Shawn Minor (Rebecca), Aaron Minor ( Tonia), Aimee Minor (Adam), Michael Hott (Brooke), Gregory Hott, Valleri Greist, Karli Jaeger (Nick), Natalie Siniard (Adam), Will Stephenson (Kim); 20 great-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; and 3 loving caregivers, Tonya Simon, Terri Grogg, and Rachel Ayala. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: a daughter-in-law, Jennie Hott; 2 brothers, Allen Lee and William Guy "Socker" Burgoyne; and a sister, Shirley Bingman.
Friends may pay their respects at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV, on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. A private graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Mike Loudermilk officiating. Memorials may be made to: Pendleton Home Health, Franklin United Methodist Church, or charity of donor's choice.
