Ruth B. Simmons, age 88, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at her home. She was born on June 26, 1934, in Teter Gap, WV, the daughter of the late Jimmie Jay and Mabel (Warner) Bennett. On October 8, 1951, Ruth married Vernon Clay Simmons, who preceded her in death on April 26, 2012.

Mrs. Simmons was a 1953 graduate of Circleville High School and retired in 1989, after working 36 years as a Printing Specialist for the FBI in Washington, DC. After retirement, Ruth and Vernon moved to their home in Franklin, WV. For more than 20 years, they spent traveling and spending quality time with their great nephews and niece, Brian and Kevin Frank and Isaac and Allison Bennett. She was a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church and attended Friends Run Church of the Brethren.

Ruth leaves behind to cherish her memory: 2 sister in laws, Barbara S. Bennett of Circleville, WV, Barbara M. Bennett of Riverton, WV; foster sister, Nola Thomas of Bruce Wood, MD; foster brother, John Bryant (Pat) of Clayton, GA; and a special friend, Frank Watson, Riverton, WV; nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: 2 brothers, Merl E "Cub" and Glenn Bennett; and 2 special nephews, Bill and David Bennett.

Entombment was in North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, WV. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin, WV.
