Obituary

Shirley Ann Wratchford, age 74 of Cabins, WV, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019 at her residence. She was born on November 21, 1944 in Washington, DC, the daughter of the late Leo Cornelius Day and Ruby Elizabeth (Thompson) Day. On March 24, 1969 she married her husband of 50 years, Lester Kenneth Wratchford, who survives in Cabins.

Mrs. Wratchford attended Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD. She retired from the Grant County Commission on Aging as a CNA.

In addition to her husband Mrs. Wratchford is survived by: 2 daughters, Leslie Wratchford of Cabins and Melissa Parks (Michael) of Gerrardstown, WV; 2 sons, Albert Giacalone (Debbie) of Fort Meyers, FL and Vince Giacalone of FortMyers, FL; 3 sisters, Sandy Hottinger (Gordon) of Urbana, MD, Crystal Winkler (Daryl) of Wesminster, MD and Jenny Chaconas of Westminster, MD; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a sister, June Willis.

Per Mrs. Wratchford's request, her body has been cremated.  Her family will receive friends on Saturday, June 29, 2019, 10-11 AM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.  A celebration of life will be follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Larry Hake officiating.
