Stanley Allen Bennett, age 68, of Buena Vista, VA, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, at River Edge Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Waynesboro, VA. He was born on June 20, 1955, in Petersburg, WV, the son of the late Luther and Mary (Hedrick) Bennett. Stanley was twice married and was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Louise (Turner) Bennett on September 18, 2015. On March 18, 2016, he married Patricia Lynn (Stone) Bennett, who survives in Buena Vista, VA.
Stanley graduated from Circleville High School and retired from Harman Construction in 2017 and had recently worked for Wilhem Construction since 2018. He was a member of the Staunton Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.
In addition to his wife, Stanley leaves behind to cherish his memory: a son, Stanley Bennett, Jr. (Brittany) of Stuarts Draft, VA; 2 step sons, Derek Ray of Verona, VA and Joseph Pauley of Staunton, VA; a step daughter, Ashley Robertson of Buena Vista, VA; 2 sisters, Margaret Turner (Norman) of Bedford Heights, OH, Patricia Woolum (Walley) of Inwood, WV; a brother, Timothy James Bennett of Riverton, WV; 8 grandchildren, Cameron Bennett and Emmy Bennett, Anmari, Maliki, and Jazlyn Robertson, Jaden, Derek II, and Jacob Ray.. In addition to his parents and his first wife Edna Louise, he was preceded in death by: a nephew, Anthony Paul Heavener; 3 brothers, Johnny Luther, Alva Gene, and Bobby Lee Bennett; and 4 sisters, Dora Lou Sponaugle, Ruby Smith, Bernice Virginia and Galda Lee.
Mr. Bennett's family will receive friends on Saturday, June 1, 2024, 12-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Steve Traylor officiating. Interment will be in North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, WV. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com.
