Stephen Hicks, age 71, of Petersburg, WV, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July, 15, 2026, at his home. He was born on July 12, 1955 in RI, the son of the late Stacy and Lynn Hicks. On July 13, 1992, Stephen married his loving wife, Tammy Jean (Tavernner) Hicks who survives in Petersburg.

Mr. Hicks graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington, VA and was a Baptist in faith. He proudly served our country in the United States Army and was a member of the NRA. After his military career, Stephen began a career as a heating and cooling technician working in Virginia, Florida, and Petersburg, WV before retirement. Most importantly, he was a family man who enjoyed spending time with those he loved most.

In addition to his wife, Stephen is survived by: a step-daughter, Kalley Hicks of Petersburg, WV; a step-son, Michael Lackey of Keyser, WV; and a sister, Carol Green of Maine. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Thomas Edward Oliver and a sister, Beth Oden.
