Verda Kisamore Bennett , age 92, of Petersburg, WV formerly of Cabins, WV, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg. She was born on September 30, 1927 in Mouth of Seneca, WV, the daughter of the late Joel Kisamore and Clara (Dolly) Kisamore. On December 4, 2014 she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Austin "Buck" Bennett.

Verda attended schools at the Forman School House in Lahamansville, WV and the Long Hollow High School. She was a member of the Corner United Methodist Church in Maysville, WV. Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker.

Verda is survived by 3 daughters: Mildred Whetzel and husband, Paul, of Petersburg, Ronda Barger of Maysville, WV and Loretta Alt of Petersburg; 3 sisters, Ester K. Vernon and husband, Stan, of Richmond, VA, Ethel Phares Dickerson of Amissville, VA and Otie K. Whitaker of Oak Harbor, WA; 6 grandchildren, Shawna Moreland, Carrol Barger, Greg Barger, Brandon Barger Sr., Stacey Whetzel and Jeff Whetzel; 6 great-grandchildren, Nellie Whetzel, Maggie Whetzel, Nikiti Southerland, Evan Moreland, Brandon Barger II and Isaac Barger and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Kaylee Southerland. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Burl Kisamore, Marvin Kisamore and Jonas Kisamore; 3 sisters, Vercie Carr, Velma Phares Lyon and an infant sister and 1 grandson, Jamie D. Alt.

Mrs. Bennett's family will receive friends on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 12-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV, with funeral services at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Stanl ley Kile officiating. Interment will be at the Lahamansville Cemetery in Lahamansville, WV. Memorials may be made to the North Fork Ruritan Club , c/o Peggy Nelson or to the Donor's choice.
