Obituary

Wayne William Wagg y, left his earthly home on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his home, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on December 30, 1936, in Franklin, WV, the son of the late Harvey Floyd and Margie (Phares) Waggy. On June 9, 1962, Wayne married the love of his life, Rettie Mae (Huffman) Waggy, his wife of 64 years, who survives in Franklin.

Wayne had worked as an orderly for 2 years at Christ Central Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, but he found his passion in farming where he used his skills in raising poultry, cows, goats, and sheep. He and his wife were awarded the Environmental Award from the WV Poultry Association and the Outstanding Turkey Producer Award by the WV Turkey Association.

Wayne took pride in his family and his farm and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a servant of the Lord with a humble heart, who enjoyed reading his Bible, daily. A gentle man who never needed the spotlight, finding his joy in simple quiet moments, and always blessing others with his kindness. To know him, was to love him and he has instilled a legacy of love that will forever be cherished.

In addition to his wife, Wayne leaves behind to cherish his memory: 2 sons, David Waggy (Lois) of Franklin, WV, Steve Waggy (Lisa Warner) of Franklin, WV; 3 grandchildren, Julie Waggy Mallow (Bill) of Upper Tract, WV, William Waggy (Heidi) of Franklin, WV, Amelia Huffman (Jordan) of Franklin, WV; and 2 great-grandchildren, Laban and Hardin Huffman.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Jimmie, Richard, Harold Waggy; 3 sisters, Ruby Kimble, Hazel Harper, Rozelva Waggy; and his best friend, Earl L. "Ub" Huffman.

Wayne's family will receive friends on Sunday, April 12, 2026, 12-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Mike Lambert officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin, WV.
