Wilda Mae Cook , age 76, of Grottoes, VA, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Harrisonburg. She was born on April 29, 1942, in Cherry Grove, WV, the daughter of the late Ezra Thurman and Vergie Lee (Vandevander) Warner. On June 24, 1960, Wilda married Arnold Lester "Tinker" Cook, who preceded her in death on February 6, 2008.

Ms. Cook attended Circleville High School and was a member of Big Run Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker and a mother.

Ms. Cook is survived by: 2 daughters, Debbie Mae Newcomb (Thomas John) of Grottoes, Melissa Ann Housden of Grottoes; a son, Robert "Bobby" Lester Cook of Staunton, VA; 3 sisters, Masel Hannah of Valley Head, WV, Zona Daniels of Bridgewater, VA, Wilma Lee Miller of Harrisonburg; a brother, Danny Warner of Bridgewater; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Teresa Lynn Baker; a grandson, Joseph Newcomb; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Baker; 5 brothers, Manson, William, Robbie, Carl T., and Gerald; and a sister, Creola Lambert.

Ms. Cook's family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, 12-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Randy Miller officiating. Interment will be in Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract, WV.
