Obituary

William Robert Brackman, age 69, of Sugar Grove, WV, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 28, 1953, at Clifton Forge, VA, the only child of the late Deward C. and Betty W. (Warnick) Brackman. On April 9, 2009, Bill married his wife of 14 years, Rose Mary (Long) Brackman, who survives in Sugar Grove.

After graduating High School, Mr. Brackman attended Blue Ridge Community College pursuing a degree in Police Science. He was a Veteran of the US Army, having served from 1972-1974. Bill had worked at Augusta Correctional Center in Maintenance before moving to Sugar Grove where he then worked for Bowman Hardware in Franklin, WV, until his retirement.

Bill was always eager to help others with their projects or in any way that he was needed. He was passionate about caring for and supporting others and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. Bill will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him as he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Brackman leaves behind to cherish his memory: 2 sons, William Brackman (Anita) of Churchville, VA, David Brackman (Tonya) of Staunton, VA; 1 daughter, Cathy Hensley of Radford, VA; bonus children, David Allen Arbaugh (Wendy) of Sugar Grove, WV, Troy Bennett (Missy) of Petersburg, WV, Shelly Simmons (Donnie) of Hinton, VA, Todd Bennett of Circleville, WV, Deborah Bennett of Fairmont, WV, Michael Arbaugh (Vickie) of Fulks Run, VA; granchildren, Ashton Smith, Cole Brackman, Dawson Brackman, Grayson Hensley, Taylor Brackman, Jenna Brackman; many loving bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his special fur-baby, "Milo".

In honoring Mr. Brackman's wishes, his body has been cremated. Mr. Brackman's family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM, at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 12:00 PM, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Sam Harper officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the US Army, Camp Dawson.
