Obituary

William Jacob "Jake" Conrad , age 76, of Ft. Seybert, WV, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020 at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, VA, from complications of cancer. He was born on July 16, 1943, at Ft. Seybert, WV, the son of the late Paul F. and Neva Elizabeth (Miller) Conrad. On October 22, 1983, Jake married his wife of 36 years, Carol A. (Crawshaw) Conrad, who survives in Ft. Seybert, WV.

Mr. Conrad was a 1961 graduate of Franklin High School. He was a graduate of Dunsmore Business College and a 1971 graduate of Shepherd University, with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Jake was a member of Brandywine Christian Church, had worked for the Potomac Highlands Guild for 10 years, and retired as a World History/Economics Teacher in 2009 (after 20 years), from Pendleton County Schools. He was a Veteran of the US Army, where he served from 1964-1966 as a Military Policeman.

Jake had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed deer and bear hunting, capturing photos of wild game, and spending time in the woods. He was an active member of the Killbuck Riflemen Club, where he helped rebuild the fort every year for the reenactment during Treasure Mountain Festival. Jake enjoyed fellowship at the Brandywine Christian Church and attended regular Bible study. He served many years on the Pendleton County Economic Development Authority and in recent years, he attended many social events at the American Legion.

In addition to his wife, Jake will be missed dearly by: 2 daughters, Rebecca Radcliff (Troy) of Buckhannon, WV, Christy Charny (Matthew) of Ft. Collins, CO; a granddaughter, Anna of Buckhannon, WV; and a brother, Jed Conrad of Ft. Seybert, WV; nieces, Susan Melendez, Sara Ferrell, Andrea Cunningham, and Aimee Rodriguez and their families; and many cousins and great-nieces and nephews.

In honoring Jake's wishes, his body has been cremated.  A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Killebuck Rifleman Range in Ft.
