William Riley "Wild Bill" Murphy, age 72, of Franklin, WV, passed away on September 19, 2021, at the Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV. He was born on February 16, 1949, in Franklin, WV, the son of the late John Newton and Zadie Elizabeth (Blizzard) Murphy.

Mr. Murphy attended Franklin High School and was a member of the Church of the Brethren, VFW Post #9666 and Franklin Moose Lodge #769. He operated Wild Bill's Destiny '95 and had worked as a painter and auto mechanic. Bill had passion for fishing spending time with his friends. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the US Army.

Bill is survived by: a daughter, Nicole Renee Murphy of Harrisonburg, VA; a son, Chris Simmons of Franklin, WV; 1 sister, Mary Lou Murphy of Petersburg, WV; 2 grandchildren; and special friends, Mark Carter and his wife Evelyn Carter who was his caregiver of many years of Forest Hill, WV and Danny Kimble of Franklin, WV; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother, Johnny Murphy; and a sister, Nancy Vandevander.
