Winston Norman Ashley, age 86, of Maysville, WV, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2022, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV.  Winston was born on March 20, 1936 in Bayou Cane, LA, one of eleven children born to the late Martin and Leontine Ashley.

Mr. Ashley attended school in Louisiana and later enlisted in the United States Army in 1959.  Winston was a hard worker from an early age and had learned many skills through his journey in life.  After an honorable discharge from the military, he went to work at several large companies working in various positions in excavation construction and as a heavy construction superintendent, where he built bridges, tunnels, and Metro Subway. Winston was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed golfing, custom woodworking, and gardening.  With his Louisiana heritage, Winston was known by friends and family for his flavorful cooking and bountiful garden which he enjoyed sharing with others. By sharing his passions with others, he leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by those who loved him.

Winston is survived by: 2 sons, W. Keith Ashley of Maysville, WV; Bruce M. Ashley of Washington; a brother, Hughey Ashley of Louisiana and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Winston was preceded in death by: 5 brothers, Sanko, Dudley, C.J., Burl, and Calvin Ashley; and 4 sisters, Flavia, Dot, Flo, and Eldora.

In honoring Mr. Ashley's wishes, a private graveside service will be held.  Military honors will be bestowed by the US Army and Grant County Veteran Honor Guard.
